The departments of economics at Concordia University, McGill University, Université de Montréal and UQAM, as well as HEC Montréal, are reserving courses in various areas of specialization for students who have completed the 1st stage of their doctoral studies.

Entry requirements for these courses will vary from department to department, but in general students will have completed required course in microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics, and will have successfully written the comprehensive exams required by the Department after the 1st year of study. The courses are intended to help students prepare for field comprehensives (if applicable) or help bridge the transition to thesis research.

Many courses will be given in English. The location is determined by the instructor's department affiliation. Students can register for these courses in their home department.
